Free Programmable Blocks

Free Programmable Blocks is a general purpose graphic user interface developed to generate Block diagrams and any other diagram using the preliminary drawing elements. It is the generalized tool for modeling various system components in control system dynamic simulation studies. The salient features of this tool are its applicability to transient stability, mid-term dynamic simulation and long-term dynamic simulation.

Features

Free Programmable Blocks Features

Presentation of diagram in parts.

It supports more than 50 different types of nodes

It supports more than 30 elementary blocks.

Five standard disturbances are integrated for testing the response of block diagram.

Dynamic text font styles and text color. The available text font support depends on the number installed fonts in the system.

Multi - Layering of objects to view, selection, edit and presentation of results.

Text Alignment to left, right, top and bottom, centering along X or Y.

Dynamic object attributes, such as line styles, fill styles and colors.

Resizing for individual drawing elements.

Rotation for individual drawing objects in multiples of 90 degrees.

Grouping of objects for move / delete.

Addition and deletion of object(s) from grouping.

No limit on number of points used for series element connections on both ends.

Facility to insert and delete a pointin between elements connecting points. The points on the node and the points connected to the element are undeletable.

The element connections attached to the node will move along the node only.

Ortho Mode to facilitate the user to draw lines along X OR Y axes only.

Ortho Mode to move the selected objects along X and Y axes only.

User configurable background / paper color.

Placement of overlapped objects in a user defined order.

Facility for show / hiding of grid lines.

User configurable grid line distance along X and Y directions, line styles and colors.

Moving of drawing objects to new location.

Node Movement together with its connection.

Panning to facilitate fast and easy scrolling along X and Y direction.

Real time zooming facility for the diagram to any fractions of a zoom level.

Reduction of the whole drawing to any fraction to fit any paper size.

Print preview support to view the actual page before printing.

Print / plot support to any of the printer(s) to which user has a printer driver.

Dynamic document / paper size.

Pushing of object from one layer to other.

Show / Hiding of individual tool bars.

Facility to view the general object information present in a document.

Multiple documents view with cascading, tiling and multiple windows.

Context sensitive on-line helps support

Data file preparation for simulation of free programmable blocks as well as data file preparation for Transient stability studies in order to incorporate Free programmable blocks in power system network

Fast generation of block diagrams is possible by turning off the Dialog mode flag. After generating the block diagram if user wants to specify the data for the blocks or for the nodes, change the mode of the operation to Selection and on double clicking the node or any block elements, a dialog box is popped-up in which user can enter the corresponding fields. The dialog boxes are popped up with minimum fields depending on the type of the block.

The constant values entered by the user are displayed on the block diagram.

Cut/Copy /Paste facilities are provided.
